Blanco Attraction

Old Blanco County Courthouse
P.O. Box 302 • Blanco, TX 78606 • (830) 333-2211
Built during 1885-1886 the courthouse has been used as a courthouse, office building, school, Blanco National Bank, Federal Farm Loan Bank, Union Hall, Town Hall, theater, opera house, library, newspaper publishing house and also a wild west museum. But her most well known roll was as a general hospital from 1937-1961. People who were born in the Courthouse during its hospital years have returned to visit with their children and grandchildren. The Old Courthouse is one of Blanco's main tourist attractions with a great location just across the street from the city park which has a pleasant trail leading to Blanco State Park. The Old Blanco County Courthouse is located on Main Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets, in downtown Blanco. In May, 2010 the courthouse is one of the filming sights for the remake of "True Grit" starring Jeff Bridges & directed by the Coen Brothers.
