The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary with more than 300 animals is a private non-profit zoo rescuing animals and serving the Austin community. Situated in the beautiful Hill Country just outside of town the Zoo hosts 200,000 visitors each year. For just $1 you can buy feed at the gift shop for the goats, deer and Llama that are in the petting zoo.
Zoo History ~ The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary started out as a goat ranch and in 1990 became the Good Day Ranch, which catered to animals in need. Today the Zoo is home to many domestic, livestock and exotic animals that were rescued from, or unwanted by their owners.
Zoo Facts ~ The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization , and relies on private donations, gate admissions, grants and sponsorships to continue to care for the animals that call it home.
